Who was your favorite teacher?

Many people who decide to become teachers were greatly influenced by the examples their own teachers set for them. Perhaps your third grade teacher made you feel like you could do anything or your high school biology teacher’s questions inspired you to study biology in college. Think about how your own educators have shaped the person that you’ve become. Think about this and make a video of yourself answering the following and upload the video to Youtube.

  1. What is the name of your favorite teacher? ❤
  2. What subject did he or she teach?
  3. How did you feel when you were around them?
  4. What 3 English words best describe this teacher?

Creating Good Presentations

Some English teachers have access to a projector that can display computer presentations during lessons. Consequently, you will have several assignments in this course that involve creating presentations. Regardless of what software you use, you need to know the principles of good presentation design. Please review this presentation in preparation for that: https://www.slideshare.net/mobile/PlusOrMinusZero/slide-presentation-guidelines

Please take a moment to think over your previous experience as a teacher or with children.  Write down two aspects of teaching that you find or think you’ll find especially difficult or challenging. Create a Youtube video of yourself answering this question verbally.

Here are some categories which may help you brainstorm:

  • Classroom management
  • Student motivation
  • Teaching any of the four skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening)
  • Finding/preparing teaching materials
  • Lesson Planning
  • Curriculum Design
